Gridserve plans second electric forecourt in Essex
The electric charging station will feature up to 31 high-speed chargers
Gridserve has confirmed plans to establish a new electric forecourt near Basildon, which will be the company's second super-efficient charging station in Essex.
The electric forecourt locations are specifically designed for electric vehicle charging, and offer high-speed chargers, lounge areas, restrooms, retail options, food and beverage services, and Wi-Fi access.
In addition to 31 high-speed chargers, the charging station will also be powered by net-zero carbon energy through on-site solar panels and battery storage, reducing dependence on the national energy grid.
It comes as the company received approval from Basildon Borough Council, which will now enable Gridserve to build its latest electric forecourt near the centre of Basildon off the A312 in Nevendon, covering 3.34 acres of greenfield land.
Gridserve already has electric forecourts in Braintree, Essex and Norwich in Norfolk, with plans to open another near Gatwick Airport later this year, as well as charging hubs at various motorway service stations.
For its latest Basildon site, Gridserve says it has yet to determine a starting date for construction, and does not currently have a set date for opening
