WAE Technologies launches battery intelligence software for e-mobility sector
Elysia aims to boost battery range and performance for electric vehicles
WAE Technologies has launched a new battery intelligence software called Elysia, that aims to improve the range and performance of vehicles from the e-mobility sector.
It is the first mass market software offering from WAE, which has previously supplied batteries to electric motorsport series and designed and developed batteries for electric hypercars and mining trucks.
According to the company, Elysia features embedded and cloud-based products that provide customers with ‘unprecedented’ access to battery insights, enabling them to manage, optimise, and enhance battery performance across its entire lifecycle.
Split into two parts, Elysia Embedded provides up to six bespoke algorithms which run on a vehicles’ battery hardware, enabling OEM’s to increase vehicle range, enable faster charging, and maximise battery power without compromising safety or battery life.
WAE Technologies says these new management algorithms can deliver a 30 percent increase in battery life and a 10 percent potential increase in range, while allowing significantly faster charging times.
Elysia Cloud Platform meanwhile is a cloud-based system that uses proprietary digital twin technology to turn data into actionable insights, enabling manufacturers of e-bikes and scooters for example, to extend battery life, enhancing safety, and protect residual values.
The platform is said to provide a complete picture of the battery's state of health.
According to Elysia's commercial lead, Joe Jones, understanding battery systems better will transform how we manage them to realise their full potential.
He added: “Elysia, Battery Intelligence from WAE, opens up a new era of electrification, born on the racetrack, but designed for the real world.
“{Its} unique capabilities offer unprecedented insight and foresight, unleashing untapped performance, life and safety to every electric vehicle, and every battery on the planet.
“We are providing easy to interpret, actionable battery insights to give OEMs, fleets and battery asset financiers unprecedented transparency, allowing them to optimise a battery and improve its performance and the value it delivers over the course of its life.”
WAE Technologies CEO, Craig Wilson, said: “For more than a decade now, WAE has led the world in the design, development, and manufacture of the most advanced electric vehicle batteries ever seen.
“We have been the sole supplier to major electrified motorsport series, extending batteries to their limits in the heat of competition on the racetrack. We’ve also pushed the boundaries with electrification of hypercar programmes and lately, electric mining trucks and other heavy equipment.
“One of the most crucial components of our leadership is the software which has enabled these vehicles to set new performance standards. At WAE’s core is the commitment to transferring new technology from motorsport to other sectors - so I am delighted we have launched Elysia today.
“The electric mobility market is growing quickly, and battery intelligence is the key to unlocking the potential of what is the most fundamental part of an EV.”
