BMW has announced the order books for its i4 eDrive35 are open, ahead of deliveries commencing from summer this year.

Priced from £49,995, the eDrive35 is the base variant of the all-electric i4, and is the latest addition to the company’s growing line up of fully-electric vehicles.

The four-door Gran Coupé is said to achieve a range of 299 miles on a complete charge, although this figure drops to 288 miles for the M Sport variant.

It is powered by a 70.2kWh battery and is equipped with a single electric motor placed on the rear axle making 282bhp. This enables a 0-62mph time in 6 seconds for both Sport and M Sport trims. The recharge time for the vehicle is 32 minutes for a 10-80 percent charge, and the maximum charge rate is 180kW.

Inside, the vehicle boasts a BMW Curved Display which features on the BMW iX, and iX1 models, and runs the firm's latest iDrive infotainment system,

Standard equipment includes LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels. The car’s interior is equipped with Black Cloth/Sensatec upholstery and front heated seats.

In the M Sport trim, the car has sporty M exterior styling as standard, 18-inch

M Aerodynamic alloy wheels, as well as an M Sport leather steering wheel and Black/Blue contrast stitching.

The launch comes as the company aims for more than 50 percent of its sales volumes to come from fully-electric vehicles by 2030.

According to BMW, last year in the UK saw its EV sales triple to 21,481 registrations, making it the fastest-growing battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand in the country, with one in five BMWs sold being fully-electric.
