Fisker Ocean delivers 440 mile range on WLTP test cycle
The fully electric SUV is set to launch in Europe in late April ahead of deliveries anticipated soon after
The Fisker Ocean will deliver the highest range of any electric SUV currently on the market, according to recent reports from the US-based firm.
During the official WLTP test cycle, the electric high-rider delivered up to 440 miles of range in its range-topping Extreme specification, surpassing rivals such as the Tesla Model X, which offers 351 miles, and the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, which offers 365 miles.
Notably, Fisker highlighted that the Ocean's 440-mile range could even take the vehicle from London to Glasgow on a single charge, emphasising the SUV's capabilities.
Battery specifications and charging rates have yet to be confirmed, but entry-level model’s have been confirmed to provide up to 275 miles of range.
The Ocean’s power output and performance will vary depending on the trim level selected, with the base Sport model (£34,990) producing 275bhp from a front axle motor, enough for a 0-60mph acceleration time of 6.6 seconds.
Further up the range is the Ultra model £48,900, which has a motor on each axle. As a result, power is increased to 540bhp, while the sprint time is lowered to 3.9 seconds. The range-topping Extreme edition (£59,900) meanwhile features 550bhp and a 0-60mph time of 3.6 seconds.
Inside, the car features few buttons, with most of the car’s functions operated via a large 10.7 inch touchscreen, which can rotate from portrait to landscape mode. Fisker has also incorporated sustainable materials into the cabin, including recycled fishing nets and used T-shirts.
It is scheduled to launch in Europe towards the end of April, and deliveries are anticipated to commence in the near future.
