Kia has expanded the lineup of its Soul EV model with a new, entry-level ‘Urban’ variant, available to order now ahead of deliveries in 2023.

Priced from £32,795, it comes equipped with a 39.2kWh battery, to which Kia says can provide a range of 171 miles (WLTP Combined) and up to 252 miles in the city. Using an 80kW rapid charger, the Korean firm claims a charge from 0-80 percent in 54 minutes, while 0-100 percent takes just over six hours from a standard, 7.2kW home charger.

The electric motor is the least powerful in the Soul lineup, delivering a top speed of 97mph,  395Nm of torque, and a 0-62mph sprint in 9.9 seconds. It also uses a  single-speed automatic transmission.

Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch OLED digital instrument cluster, a rear view camera and adaptive cruise control.

Replacing the Maxx model as the flagship in the Kia Soul range is the new ‘Explore’ edition priced from £38,995.

It features a larger 64kWh battery and a range of 280 miles (WLTP Combined) from a full charge, while urban driving delivers a range of 402 miles.  The 0-62mph sprint is dealt with in 7.9 seconds, thanks to a more powerful 201bhp electric motor.

Standard equipment for the Explore model includes a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment and navigation system, heated front seats and rear parking sensors.

The Urban model will feature a mono-tone livery as standard, with access to a metallic paint palette available for an extra £595. Colours include 'Inferno Red', 'Neptune Blue, 'Snow White Pearl' and 'Fusion Black'. Meanwhile, the Explore model is available with optional two-tone metallic paint.
