Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Saloon receives mid-life update
The car now closely resembles the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe that launched earlier this year
The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Saloon is set to undergo a mid-life update in 2024, primarily focusing on enhanced equipment and a subtle refresh to its exterior appearance.
Previously, it was announced that the range-topping GT 4-Door S E Performance model would undergo revisions, and now the entire lineup will benefit from similar adjustments.
Externally, a fresh AMG radiator grille featuring vertical stripes and an additional air duct below it has been introduced. The lower air intake is now wider, the air ducts are slimmer, and a new metallic white paint finish option is now available.
For the GT 4-Door 63 and the 63 S E Performance, an 'Aerodynamics package' can be added, which includes a front lip, a more aggressive rear diffuser, and a fixed rear wing.
In the interior, the AMG GT 4-Door E Performance remains the same, but with some improvements to the on-board equipment.
Standard features now include an electric sunroof and a wireless smartphone charger in the rear, plus a Burmester sound system. Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system has also been updated.
Across the GT 4-Door range, V8 power is a consistent feature. The 63 4MATIC+ model offers 585bhp and 800Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds. The 63 S model increases these figures to 639bhp and 900Nm of torque, reducing the sprint time to 3.2 seconds.
The top-of-the-line 63 S E Performance is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and a rear-mounted electric motor, creating a combined output of 831bhp and 1,400Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, and it also features rear-wheel steering. The vehicle retains its standard-fit enormous carbon ceramic brakes.
Although pricing and launch dates for the UK market have not yet been disclosed, it is anticipated that the standard GT 4-Door 63 will start at approximately £150,000, and the top-tier S E Performance model will have a higher starting price than its current £178,705 when it becomes available in 2024.
