Citroën has announced that its new ë-C4 X Electric can now be ordered. Three trim levels will be on offer, with prices ranging between £31,995 and £35,495.

The ë-C4 will come equipped with a 100kW electric motor that’s mated to a 50kWh battery pack, resulting in a claimed 222 miles of range (WLTP combined). It will also support 100kW rapid charging, so a 0-80 percent charge can be done in around 30 minutes.

A 7.4kW single-phase on-board charger and a Type 2 Mode 3 charging cable will also be provided as standard, with a full charge using a 7kW wallbox said to take approximately 7.5 hours.

Design wise, the ë-C4 adopts a fastback shape that’s paired with the raised ride height of an SUV. The roofline looks to maintain as straight a line as possible, forming a sleek yet distinctive silhouette in the process. It also means the ë-C4 has a drag coefficient of just 0.29.

The car’s front end has been moulded to follow similar design cues to other Citroën models, with bonnet-wide chrome chevrons splitting into dual-height front headlights. A new style of LED rear lights follow a similar pattern to those also found at the front, and make for a clean look throughout.

Inside, the ë-C4 will profit from Citroën’s Advanced Comfort Programme, which includes more cushioned seats and a superior suspension set-up. It’s also 4.6 metres long, which means cabin space is plentiful, while the 510-litres of useful load space could also be considered to be competitive among rivals in its class. Additional space can also be found beneath the boot floor - a convenient area to store the Mode 3 charging cable that’s supplied across the various ë-C4 versions.

Three trim grades will be available to customers: ‘Sense’, ‘Shine’ and ‘Shine Plus’.

The entry level ‘Sense’ models are fitted with a host of safety features, including Active Safety Brake, Speed Limit Information, Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning and Driver Attention Alert. A 10-inch infotainment screen with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also included, with 18-inch ‘Crosslight’ alloys rounding off the trim level’s defining characteristics. ‘Sense’ models will start at £31,995 (OTR price).

Next up is the ‘Shine’ edition, which has Citroën’s next-generation infotainment and navigation unit, with natural voice commands also implemented. The safety features are also upgraded, with Advanced Active Safety Brakes with night-time and cyclist detection included, in addition to Extended Traffic Sign Recognition. A head-up display, reverse camera with Top Rear Vision and Automatic Intelligent Beam Lights complete the differences. The ë-C4 X ‘Shine’ variants are offered from £34,495 (OTR price).

To complete the trio of trims is the range-topping ‘Shine Plus’ models which boast Alcantara seats, with the driver and front passenger seats being heated. It also features Highway Driver Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, and starts at £35,495 (OTR price).
