Dacia has announced pricing and specifications of its first hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), the Jogger hybrid 140.

It is priced from £22,555, making it one of the cheapest hybrids on the market, and combines an 88 bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine with twin electric motors to produce a total output of 138 bhp and 184 lb-ft of torque.

The smaller of the electric motors acts as a starter-generator while the larger one acts as a powerful alternator. This means the Jogger can accelerate from 0-62mph in around 10.1 seconds.

The Jogger hybrid also comes with regenerative braking, which is said to “optimise energy recovery and driving comfort”. With regenerative braking, Dacia says the car can spend 80 percent of its time on urban roads in full-electric mode, thereby saving up to 40 percent on fuel compared to an equivalent petrol-only model. As a result, it can achieve a WLTP fuel economy figure of 56.5 mpg. Meanwhile, its claimed CO2 emissions is 112g/km.

It is available in two trims - Expression and Extreme SE - both of which can be specified with the new Shadow Grey metallic paint. Expression includes front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, blind spot warning, keyless entry, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, automatic wipers, and automatic air conditioning as standard.

The range-topping Extreme SE version adds 16-inch black alloy wheels, sliding tray tables, heated front seats and an 8-inch MediaNav infotainment system.

Orders for the new HEV are open, with deliveries due to commence from the second quarter of this year.
