Peugeot have unveiled their all new 408 hatchback, which represents a new era for the brand.

A variety of powertrain options will be offered for the Peugeot 408, including two rechargeable Plug-in Hybrid models. One comes with a 180 hp (132 kW) PureTech engine paired with an 81 kW electric motor, while another comes with a 150 horsepower (110 kW) PureTech engine paired with an 81 kW electric motor.

Additionally, the 408 will include a PureTech 130hp petrol model. All three are connected to an EAT8 eight-speed automatic transmission. An all-electric version is in the works but there are no details at this time.

On both plug-in hybrid models, the 12.4kWh Li-ion battery generates 102kW of power. There are two different onboard charger models: a 3.7kW single-phase charger that comes standard and a 7.4 kW single-phase optional charger.

The 408 fits in with the rest of the Peugeot family thanks to its characteristic fang-shaped light signature up front, as well as the three-claw LED lights at the back. The back bumper's inverted cut-out also gives the profile a new appearance. Six colour options will be available for the new Peugeot 408: Blue Obsession, Titanium grey, Cumulus Grey, Elixir Red, Pearl White or Nera Black.

With a 1.48m height, 4.69m length, and 2.79m wheelbase, the new Peugeot 408 offers second-row seats with 188mm knee room. The boot offers a maximum volume of 536 litres and a maximum capacity of 1,611 litres when the back seats are folded down.

Peugeot i-Connect Advanced comes as standard. It has a TomTom linked navigation system, and a 10-inch screen. The system is updated over the air as required by transmitting the data via the telecommunications network, removing the need for a customer to visit a Peugeot centre to install updates.

Peugeot's CEO, Linda Jackson, said: "At Peugeot, we believe life is better with allure. It encompasses all PEUGEOT's technological demands – controlled efficiency and a connected digital experience – and all the emotions associated with instinctive driving pleasure and a peaceful journey."

With Peugeot Buy Online's help, customers can also acquire the new Peugeot 408 entirely online. Using a smartphone, tablet, or PC, they may buy, trade in their old vehicle, and finance a new Peugeot, all from the convenience of their home or place of business, with the option of having their car delivered to their home will also be available.
