Rolls-Royce unveils limited-edition Drop Tail: A bespoke homage to coachbuilt classics
The car is limited to just 30 units
Rolls-Royce has unveiled a new two-seat roadster, the Drop Tail. The car is inspired by the marque's coachbuilt drop-tops of the early 20th century, and is limited to just 30 examples.
The Drop Tail is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 engine, producing 593bhp and 620lb ft of torque. Rolls-Royce have not confirmed the performance stats from this engine, though it would be fair to imagine comparable figures from the V12-powered Dawn, which does 0-62mph in under 5.0 seconds before reaching its top speed of 155mph.
The exterior design of the Drop Tail is characterised by its long, flowing bonnet and sweeping rear deck. The interior is equally luxurious, with hand-stitched leather upholstery, polished wood veneers, and a starlight headliner.
The first Drop Tail, called La Rose Noire, has already been sold to a mystery buyer, with each unit costing £20 million. The remaining cars are expected to be snapped up by wealthy collectors and enthusiasts.
