Smart previews new coupe-SUV #3 in official release
The follow-up to the Smart #1, this second bespoke electric model will be unveiled at the Shanghai motor show next month
The newly revamped Smart brand co-owned by Geely and Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its second bespoke electric model, a coupe-SUV named the #3 ( pronounced as 'hashtag 3'), in an official preview.
The model will be showcased at the Shanghai motor show next month and follows the release of the Smart #1 in the UK this summer.
Styled by the Mercedes-Benz design team, the #3 looks fairly similar to the #2, featuring slim LED lights and a rounded front end, though this time with a coupe-like roofline.
Geely's electric SEA platform is used to build the new vehicle, though technical details have yet to be released.
However, according to patent information obtained from China, the car will come in a choice of single- and twin-motor powertrains, and entry-level models will offer 286bhp, while the most potent version will make up to 422bhp.
The vehicle will be powered by a 66kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery, similar to the one used in the Smart #1, providing an estimated range of 270 miles and a 150kW charging rate.
In terms of dimensions, the model will be approximately 4400mm long, 1800mm wide, and 1600mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2785mm.
