Toyota to launch electric sport crossover for 2025
The firm says the new fastback will offer “a stylish alternative to SUVs”
Toyota has announced plans to produce an all-electric four-door “fastback”, as part of its plans to introduce six dedicated battery electric vehicles by 2026.
The vehicle will be based on the Sport Crossover Concept, which was initially unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show alongside the bZ Flexspace Concept.
The production version is anticipated to arrive in showrooms in 2025, rivalling the Polestar 2, Hyundai Ioniq 6 and the upcoming Kia EV4.
When it does go on sale, Toyota says it will “provide an attractive proposition for first-time electric car customers and a stylish alternative to SUVs.”
The Sport Crossover has been developed in collaboration with Chinese auto firm BYD, which is also likely to provide its batteries - similar to ones used in the BYD Seal.
Full technical specifications for the Sport Crossover Concept remain undisclosed for now.
