Toyota reveals updated 2024 GR Yaris
Updates include more power and an optional dual-clutch automatic gearbox
Toyota has unveiled the 2024 version of its GR Yaris, representing a substantial enhancement from its earlier model. The latest iteration of this popular high-performance hatchback incorporates several advancements, ranging from interior design modifications to mechanical upgrades.
The 2024 GR Yaris is powered by a more powerful version of the high-performance three-cylinder engine. This engine now delivers 276bhp and 390Nm of torque, thanks to an upgraded injection system and lighter pistons. These modifications not only increase power but are also said to improve the engine's overall efficiency and responsiveness.
In addition to extra power a new transmission choice – an eight-speed automatic designed specifically for this model and for quick and efficient shifting. The existing six-speed manual transmission also remains available, now with expectations of improved performance.
The latest model features an enhanced GR-Four all-wheel drive system with three unique settings: Sport, Gravel, and Track. These settings allow drivers to customise torque distribution according to varying driving conditions.
While retaining its distinctive aggressive look, the GR Yaris introduces minor adjustments. The front bumper has been redesigned for enhanced cooling and aerodynamics, and the rear bumper features a more cost-efficient design for light replacements.
Inside meanwhile, the vehicle sees notable changes with a lowered dashboard and front seats to improve ergonomics. A new infotainment system and a 12.3-inch configurable display has also been added.
Toyota has not disclosed the pricing for the updated GR Yaris but plans to launch it in March, with initial deliveries anticipated in June.
