Vauxhall has announced the successor to its popular Crossland model will include an all-electric variant by 2024, its latest step towards becoming a fully electric brand by 2028.

Vauxhall has remained tight-lipped about its appearance, except for previewing a potential design from its  'Experimental' concept, which is set to be showcased at the Munich motor show this September.

The successor to the Crossland is anticipated to retain its fundamental underpinnings shared with the Corsa model, and will be positioned as Vauxhall's counterpart to other models from the Stellantis group, like the Jeep Avenger and Citroën ë-C4.

Its development means that every model in Vauxhall's lineup will be available with a battery-electric option as early as next year.

Vauxhall's electrified range is already gaining momentum with five fully-electric passenger car models on offer, including the Corsa Electric, Mokka Electric, Combo Life Electric, and Vivaro Life Electric. Joining this lineup is the recently released Astra Electric, with the Astra Sports Tourer Electric scheduled to join later in 2023.

The all-electric successors to the Crossland and Grandland will follow suit in 2024, marking a comprehensive expansion of the fully-electric offerings by the brand.

Vauxhall's electrified strategy also includes fully-electric variants across its entire Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) range, including the Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric, and Movano Electric. The company says it's one of the few manufacturers to accomplish this feat, emphasising the brand's dedication to embracing electric mobility in all aspects of its lineup.

James Taylor, Managing Director of Vauxhall, expressed his excitement about the forthcoming milestones. He said:  "Twenty twenty four will see us achieve the significant milestone of offering a fully-electric variant across our entire model line-up.

“It also confirms that going forward, all future Vauxhall models will be offered with a fully-electric variant from launch – demonstrating our commitment towards driving Britain to a brighter, electric future."
