Volkswagen is set to hand the first public premieres to the new Amarok, Caddy and ID.Buzz Cargo and Pro models at the IAA Transportation Show, which runs from 19 September to the 25th.

The International Automobile Exhibition is one of the world’s largest mobility trade fairs, and Volkswagen will use it as a stepping stone to promote some of its most highly-anticipated forthcoming models.

ID.Buzz Cargo and Pro models

With over 12,500 orders being taken for the ID.Buzz since its introduction as the zero-emissions successor to the iconic Samba Bus, Volkswagen will now unveil the ID.Buzz Cargo and five-seat ID.Buzz Pro van models.

The Cargo and Pro models will come with an electric motor that produces 204ps (150kW) of power. They also share the same 77kWh battery, which provides a claimed range of 264 miles in the ID.Buzz Cargo, and up to 262 miles in the Pro.

Both models can be charged at AC docks at 11kW, though both support up to 170kW of fast charging, which is claimed to deliver a 5-80 percent charge in 30 minutes.

At DC charging stations, it’s also possible to utilise the ‘Plug and Charge’ option for both, which negates the need for charging cards or apps, and utilises a billing system that, once activated, runs automatically.

Second-generation Amarok pick-up

Next up is the second generation Amarok pick-up truck. Among the revamped features include over 20 new assistance systems, mobile online services, a variety of five engine choices and two all-wheel drive technologies.

Of the five engines, four of them will be turbo diesels (TDI), with power outputs that toggle between 150 PS (110kW) and 250 PS (184kW). The fifth engine will be a turbocharged petrol (TSI), which produces 302 PS (222kW). The drivetrain can be paired with either a 10-speed automatic gearbox, or a traditional manual transmission.

Additional features include all-wheel drive, leather trim, ‘IQ.LIGHT’ LED matrix headlights, LED tail lights, an infotainment unit with navigation, and a sound system from Harman-Kardon.

It will be launched towards the end of this year, and will be available in five trim levels: Amarok, Life, Style, PanAmericana and Aventura. Additionally, you can choose from either a DoubleCab, with four doors, or a SingleCab, with two.

Caddy Maxi 'Dark Label'

The third vehicle on show will be a special edition version of the latest generation of Caddy, which was released in 2020. Billed the ‘Caddy Maxi Dark Label’, it can be specced with any of the pre-existing engines from the standard Caddy line-up.

The Dark Label example that will be at the trade show will contain the latest of the group: a 1.5-litre ‘natural gas’ turbocharged engine. The natural gas storage tanks, which are located beneath the steel underfloor, can hold up to 21.1kg of fuel. An additional reserve tank is also present, which is capable of storing a maximum of 8.25 litres of petrol. The switch between natural gas and petrol occurs automatically.

Multivan 'Edition'

To round off the quadruplet of premieres is the new Multivan ‘Edition’, which will be available in two body lengths - 4,973mm or 5,173mm. It will be sold as either a five, six or seven seater, and fitted with any of the driving systems currently offered by Volkswagen (PHEV, TSI or TDI). Visually, it will be the sportiest of the Multivan range, sporting black coloured elements to stand out from standard examples.

Such darkened features include the roof section, A-pillars and roof spoiler, which will be finished in Deep Black Pearl Effect. Tinted dark windows and darkened tail lights also contribute to the special edition checklist, as do individualised gloss black wing mirror caps, 18-inch black ‘Toshima’ alloys and a black ‘EDITION’ decal above the sill area.

Further external additions include the same ‘IQ.LIGHT’ LED matrix headlights found in the aforementioned Amarok, and the debut of Volkswagen’s ‘Good Night’ package - a fold-out bed and blackout options which turn the Multivan Dark Label into a camper-lite. Available colours are: Candy White, Energetic Orange Metallic, Indium Grey Metallic, Mono Silver Metallic and Reflex Silver Metallic.
