Charging point provider, Osprey will supply British Garden Centres with rapid EV charging for its UK stores.

Up to 12 nationwide garden centres have so far been confirmed to benefit from the partnership, with plans to equip all sites from the group over the next few years.

For phase one, Osprey’s ultra-rapid charging hubs will begin to appear later this year, which the company says can add 100 miles of range to an EV following a 20-30 minute charge.

The British Garden Centres store in Carmarthen, Wales will be the first to gain from the announcement, and will provide up to eight Osprey 150Kw charging hubs in the coming months.

Stores to follow include Wimborne (Dorset), Carr Gate (Yorkshire), Braintree (Essex) and Harrow (London), though the number of hubs will vary for each garden centre depending on car park size and availability of power.

Ian Johnston, CEO of Osprey Charging said: “The British Garden Centres name is synonymous with first-class customer experience, and we’re delighted to provide safe, reliable, and accessible charging at their UK stores.

“We look forward to a fruitful partnership as we work together to offer EV charging at more of its centres up and down the country.”

Amy Stubbs, daughter of the founder of British Garden Centres, added: “We work hard to provide our customers with expert gardening knowledge, great value, the industry’s best gardening products and the highest quality of food in our restaurants.

“Partnering with Osprey allows us to build upon this further by letting our growing number of EV driving customers charge their vehicles at a time and location that is convenient for them, while they visit our stores.”
