Cannondale has announced a new addition to its Trail Neo electric mountain bike range, which comes with a revised frame and a motor system from Bosch.

Dubbed the Trail Neo 1, the e-bike uses Bosch’s Smart System, which incorporates the firm’s Performance Line CX drive unit, as well as its Kiox display which is mounted onto the bike’s handlebars.

The CX drive unit is claimed to deliver a range of up to 108 miles (175km), and “offers increased torque and extended boost for more speed”.

It can also be connected via Bluetooth to Bosch’s eBike flow app, which can display battery percentage and range, as well as customise the e-bike’s max speed and assistance level.

Powering the motor is an immovable 750Wh battery.

The frame has also been updated with changes to its geometry. The angle of the head tube has been decreased to 67 degrees, though the seat tube angle remains the same at 74 degrees.

Cannondale says the angle of the slack head tube and rear-end geometry, combined with the battery and drive unit positioned as low as possible in the frame, “results in a perfect blend of stability and agility on any trail”.

Cannondale also updated the frame for its Neo 1 so it could house Bosch’s Smart System and battery, and to future proof it so it could work with future Bosch products.

The frame is made from the brand’s ’Premium SmartForm C1 Alloy’ frame, which is said to “concentrate material exactly where needed to maximise stiffness and strength”.

It rides on 29-inch wheels - alloys that are cocooned by Maxxis Rekon mountain bike tyres, and can accept a maximum tyre width of 2.6-inches.

For rough, unforgiving terrain, the Trail Neo 1 uses a RockShox 35 Silver fork with a coil spring. Meanwhile, its 12 gears come from the Deore M600 drivetrain from cycling component brand, Shimano.

Stopping power comes from 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes from Tektro.

Other features include an integrated light on the head tube, pre-wiring for an additional light, a kickstand and mudguards.

The bike is available to order now in a variety of sizes - priced at £4,300.
