The third model of the BMW X1 generation has been released, and the BMW Group is now offering a fully electric version of the X1 SUV. A new addition to the hybrid battery-electric and fuel combustion engine models already existing, the BMW iX1 xDrive30 will be the third BMW model to feature an all-electric drive system after the iX and the iX3 models.

The new iX1 xDrive30 is the BMW Group’s latest electric vehicle built on its fifth-generation eDrive platform. All X1 models will be made at the BMW Group plant in Regensburg, where BMW is taking essential steps toward becoming more sustainable, focusing on renewable energy during manufacture, as well as increasing the use of renewable materials.

BMW’s iX1 xDrive30 is powered by a standard dual-electric motor drivetrain, one at the front axle and another at the rear, which can output 230kW combined (up to 313 hp) and overall torque of 494Nm. Equipped with a high voltage battery - a 64.7kWh battery pack that can travel roughly 260–270 miles from a single charge. It can also recharge quickly at 130kW, which BMW specifies as an increasing range by 75 miles in 10 minutes.

The BMW X1 xDrive30e and BMW X1 xDrive25e are two plug-in hybrids which will be featured later on in the X1 model lineup, both featuring an integrated electric drive unit powering the rear wheels, mixed with a three-cylinder fuel combustion engine that drives the front wheels. Within the BMW Group supply chain, green electricity for battery cell production and increased use of raw materials cut CO2 emissions by around 20%.

Each new X1 model will have BMW’s new Operating System 8 with more recently updated voice assistant features. It will now have a unique curved 10.25-inch screen information display that merges with a 10.7-inch control display to create a single unit behind the continuous glass surface curving towards the driver. Built-in with a handy driver assist system, the X1 has new modern technology, where you can drive through stop-and-go traffic automatically, as well as built-in adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assistance.

Developed with five models to choose from– Sports Premier, xLine Premier, xLine Premier Pro, M Sport Premier, and M Sport Premiere Pro – the new BMW iX1 will be available to reserve now.
