Cupra Leon range gains new Design Edition trims
In the firm’s latest trim, the Cupra starts from £30,455 and adds a host of additional features
Cupra, the performance-focused arm of SEAT, has breathed new life into the popular Cupra Leon range by introducing new Design Edition trims.
Available for both the hatchback and estate variants, these new trims are said to enhance the features to the Cupra Leon lineup.
The V1 Design Edition variants, showcase new 18-inch black and copper wheels. Then there is the VZ2 Design Edition which starts at £37,980, and then there is the VZ3 Design Edition, which starts at £43,505.
In addion to the new wheels, these upgraded trims also include a panoramic sunroof, black side skirts, and a black roof spoiler.
Other standard equipment for the car includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch infotainment system, plus a rear-view camera.
In terms of powertrains, there are three engines to choose from: A 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine generating 148bhp, as well as 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine packing 187bhp.
The third option consists of a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 13kWh battery powering an electric motor. This e-Hybrid plug-in setup makes 242bhp and 400Nm of torque though as the range-topper costs £40,160 when paired with the Design Edition trim.
With this powertrain, power is directed to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission, enabling a 0-62mph acceleration time of 6.7 seconds, before reaching its top speed of140mph.
On the WLTP cycle, the e-Hybrid’s battery is said to provide up to 36 miles of electric-only range, and C02 emissions of 29g/km. Cupra says this battery can be recharged in four hours via a wallbox charger.
Prices start at £30,455 for the hatchback and £32,455 for the estate model, and both are available to purchase now in the UK.
