Kia has just revealed the official images of the Kia Concept EV9. The all-electric SUV concept embraces the company's commitment to a sustainable mobility provider. The SUV is brought to the public, following closely with the design concept of the newly released EV6. The all-electric model has a unique and striking look with Kia's new design philosophy, 'Opposites United'.

The Design Philosophy

'Opposites United' is Kia's new design motto for all upcoming and future models. The brand based its new concept on a ‘five principles philosophy’ that make up the pillars of the car manufacturer’s new approach: Bold for nature, Joy for reason, Power to progress, Technology for life and Tension for serenity - key design foundations that shape the entire experience.

Karim Habib, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Design Centre, said: "We want our products to deliver an intuitive and natural experience that improves the daily lives of our customers. Our aim is to design the physical experience of our brand and to create original, inventive, and exciting electric vehicles. The ideas of our designers and the purpose of the brand are becoming more connected than ever, with our customers at the centre of what we do and influencing every decision that we make."

Kia teams focused on the use of recycled materials such as fishnets and vegan leather

With an interactive 27-inch ultra-wide display to provide comfort throughout the driver’s experience, the EV9’s concept includes elements of water and the ocean, an additional call to a zero emission overall approach. The ‘Bold for Nature’ pillar recalls this vibe: the idea came when the Kia design team looked at sustainable materials in the latest EV9 concept. Recycled materials such as fishnets have been used to create the flooring, recycled plastic bottles incorporated into the seating fabric, and the implementation of recycled materials which are regularly found in the ocean. Ethically sourced vegan leather has also replaced the conventional animal leather - a material used throughout the interior space of the EV9.

The eco-friendly components of the EV9 add up to the fancy, luxurious image of the vehicle, without removing the comfort of the previous models. Drivers can experience a sense of lightness through the SUVs DLO panoramic sunroof, thanks to its sky-gazing views that aim at making the experience more connected to nature.

Mirroring the interior concept that follows the new design philosophy of Kia, the concept EV9 shares all the characteristics to potentially be a family-friendly, high-performance and high-tech vehicle developed on the E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform) advanced architecture and powered by an all-electric, zero-emissions powertrain.

Kia Sustainability Movement aims to provide renewable, carbon neutral results by 2045

On November 11th, 2021, Kia announced its corporate vision in a virtual presentation called 'Kia Sustainability Movement'. In this presentation, Kia revealed the company's actions to create and maintain sustainable mobility solutions for consumers, communities, and global society. The exhibition also includes Kia's announcement of becoming a carbon-neutral company by 2045. They will follow the guidance based on three pillars; sustainable mobility, sustainable planet, and sustainable energy. It is expected that Kia's model range will go fully electric by 2035, followed closely by the global market by 2040.

The Kia EV9 has made its debut and will be ready for sale in 2023.
