Citroën has begun taking orders for its tiny, all-electric Ami model, priced from £7,695.

The first 2,000 orders from UK buyers will include three months free access to Ubitricity’s 5,400 lamppost charges - a kerbside charging network which is said to help buyers who don't have home charging facilities.

Though priced from £7,695, the car can also be bought via a Personal Contract Purchase (PCP). The deal runs over 24 months with a deposit of £2,369 and a monthly fee of £19.99. With an optional final payment of £8,423, customers can buy the car outright at the end of the PCP agreement.

In addition to the PCP deal, each order can come with Citroën’s new My Ami Care service package for an additional cost, which covers routine servicing and maintenance, as well as breakdown cover and vehicle and battery warranty.

Since the Ami can only be bought online, Citroën has developed a bespoke online buying platform for its Ami model, which enables buyers to book test drives and place orders.

Eurig Druce, Managing Director of Citroën UK, said “Ami 100% ëlectric represents genuine innovation in urban transport. It is an example of Citroën at its best – affordable electric mobility for all, and I can’t wait to see customers out in them on UK roads.

“In addition, My Ami Care provides peace of mind to customers and offers the flexibility to create a package tailored to each customer’s needs.”

The base Citroën Ami, which is just 2.4 metres long, comes equipped with a 5.5kWh battery that recharges in three hours. It delivers a range of 46 miles and a top speed of 28mph from its 6kWh motor.

Priced in the middle of the Ami range is the more commercial My Ami Cargo, priced from £7,995. Designed for last-mile deliveries, the My Ami Cargo can carry a maximum of 140kg, and ditches the passenger seat in favour of a storage box to provide up to 260 litres of space. With the inclusion of storage gubbins around the cabin, Citroën says the car’s overall storage capacity is 400 litres.

For £8,495, there is also an Ami Pop model, which comes with an Orange Colour pack, black trim on the exterior, as well as a spoiler and door decals.

Lastly is the range-topping My Ami Tonic model, priced from £8,895. It shares the same electric powertrain as the above models, but with a unique khaki and yellow colour scheme, decorative roof rails, as well as redesigned headlamp bezels inspired by sunglasses.

The Ami’s interior features a digital speedometer, a panoramic sunroof as well as a USB port for charging. The Pop and Tonic variants get an additional smartphone cradle, enabling easy access to the My Ami Play infotainment function in the My Citroën app. Meanwhile, the exterior features LED lights to the front and back and 14 inch wheels.

Citroën says it has already received more than 2,000 reservations for the Citroën Ami from UK customers, and that buyers can either choose to collect their Ami from an approved dealer, or have it delivered to their address.
