Owners of the all-electric Citroen Ami can now gain access to navigation, radio, music and calls straight from their phone.

The added functionality is thanks to the new ‘My Ami Play’ function in the My Citroen app, which enables the driver's smartphone to double-up as an infotainment screen from the Ami’s dashboard.

Users of My Ami Play can customise the menu to feature the functions they wish to use regularly for navigation and music, such as Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps, Deezer, and Apple Music.

It can be activated by the Citroen Switch button located on the Ami’s steering wheel, enabling the driver to avoid looking away from the road ahead to access the app's new infotainment features.

Citroen says voice assistant features such as Apple’s Siri remain available.

Currently, the My Citroen app only delivers key vehicle information, such as charge level via the DAT@AMI dongle.

Gilles Scafarto, Head of Connected Services Strategy at Citroën, said: “Customers like to have access to their favourite navigation and media apps while driving.

“‘My Ami Play’ is a major innovation to meet this need in complete safety.”

The Citroen Ami is a small, urban, all-electric car that can reach a top speed of 28mph, priced from £7,695. It is powered by a 5.5Kwh battery and can deliver up to 43 miles on a full charge.
